Teton FreeRiders

HELLO SHREDDERS...

Teton FreeRiders created the first user-specific trail network in the United States Forest Service system designing and constructing the entire gravity mountain bike trail system in Teton County, WY, primarily on Teton Pass. We fill the labor void with over two thousand hours of trail building annually via our professional trail crew. We have also made significant contributions to the Greater Snow King Area, Munger Mountain Trail Network, and the Phillip’s Trail Network.

Teton FreeRiders is a tax-exempt organization under the IRC 501(c)(3)

Only 30 Minutes left to make your donation through Old Bill's, so if you are a procrastinator the time has come. No matter what amount you can give every little bit helps. Just $25 funds one hour of trail work!
In one hour we can:
Buff out a berm
Fill in brake bumps
Repack the lip on a jump
Fix a drain
Clear brush
Plan a new feature
Rake out a turn
So go to the link in our bio right now and help keep Teton Pass one of the best riding spots in the country!

Whether building some of the best trails and features on public land in the world or fighting for your rights as a mountain biker, TFR works tirelessly to ensure you have access to trails that don't suck!

Our trails were the first legal downhill-specific bicycle trails on US Forest Service land in the country. Today, they serve as a model for other groups nationwide looking to provide their local community an opportunity to recreate and enrich their lives.

We work hand in hand with government agencies, other local non-profits, and local businesses to keep these trails alive and thriving. We are an all-volunteer-driven non-profit that wants to make sure that the Tetons have the best mountain bike trails possible.

TFR is here for you and your trails. Please give us your support during the 2023 Old Bill's Fun Run! Follow the link in our bio now!

Please remember us during Old Bill's this year and make a donation!
We don't just build jumps and trails. We build lifelong friendships. We build community. We build imaginations.
When we first built the trails on Teton Pass, we just wanted a place to ride. We didn't realize that we would end up creating a place that brought our local cycling community together in an extraordinary way.
Riding on Teton Pass is where we have built our strongest relationships and where so many members of our community have done the same through their shared experiences. That's why keeping this unique local asset alive, and thriving is essential.
Help us keep building the trails that weave our community's fabric by donating to Teton FreeRiders through Old Bill's Fun Run. Your donations are matched, meaning more berms, jumps, and amazing trails for you and your friends.

Hey FreeRiders,
With only days left(ending Friday, September 17th at 5 pm) to donate to TFR during Old Bill’s Fun Run, we need your help to keep your local gravity trails open and maintained! That’s right; we rely on your donations to pay our trail crew, advocate for your access, provide infrastructure for the trail system(have you seen the new toilet?), install trail signage, buy tools, and fuel the excavator.
This year we’re asking each and every one of you for a small donation of $25. That’s right, for less than the price of a half-day ticket at a bike park, you can help fund the Teton Pass Trail System for the whole year. And right now, during Old Bill’s Fun Run’s giving period, your donation will be matched to help make the trails you love even better!
You ask, “What could my small donation of just $25 do for the trails? Surely that’s not enough to make a difference?” Well, let us tell you what we can do for you with $25.
$25 pays for an hour of trail work. $25 buffs out a berm. $25 buys a new hand tool. $25 puts a new lip on a jump. $25 puts over 6 gallons of diesel in the excavator. $25 helps protect access to your local trails. $25 makes better trails!
If every one of you donated just $25, we could raise our Old Bill’s maximum and receive the total match meaning you make maximum impact on your local trails. And with TFR’s all-volunteer Board of Directors, it means that every dollar raised goes directly to the dirt, that sweet, sweet dirt!
So skip a round at the bar, make your own coffee for a week, pack your lunch for a couple of days, ride your bike to work, and then follow the link in our bio to help us keep Teton Pass rad!

⚠️🚨 Fuzzy Bunny Safety Alert!!
Good morning shredders! If you're out on the pass riding today or tomorrow, watch out for the reroute on Fuzzy Bunny. On Wednesday June 30 and Thursday July 1, BPA personnel will drive a dump truck pulling a large cat down the Old Pass Road from the top of the Pass. BPA will only be using the access road that the upper road gap jumps cross, but we urge you to use extra awareness while riding The Bunny, and give right of way to any worker that may need to cross the trail for access. The TFR trail crew has created an alternate route, including signage, so it will be apparent when riding.
Play along and we’ll be back to catching big 🐰 air again soon! See ya on the trails.
Join us tomorrow, Saturday, June 26, on Teton Pass for a berm-smacking, dirt lip-sending, trail-shredding good time! And 🤞 it might be a brown pow day.
The TFR crew is back at it again, and we want to share the stoke with you. We’ll be camping out at the Trail Creek Trailhead from 10-2, catching some laps and making new friends. Let’s catch some air together!
And oh yeah, TFR🧢, 👕, and hoodies too! Get fresh in new TFR gear and support your favorite trails at the same time.
See ya on the pass!

Come ride and hang with us tomorrow!
We’ll have our tent set up at the Trail Creek Trailhead from 10-2 tomorrow, Saturday, June 5th and we want to shred with you. Throw back a cold one, catch some laps, learn about what we do, how you can help and get yourself kitted out with some fresh TFR gear.
See you on the pass!

”This is Teddy. Aka Tedward Shovelhands aka the Tedsas chainsaw massacre. You won’t find him on social media. Where are you will find them is working the gravity trails on Teton Pass. He is the reason you didn’t run into any downed trees on fuzzy, parallel, powerline jumps, and Jimmy’s after that last wind event. He woke up Tuesday morning and fired up the chainsaw, because that’s part of his job. This is his 17th consecutive year doing trail work on Teton Pass. He did the first 10 for free and then we were able to put him on payroll. He runs the excavator, rakes landings, does thistle control, runs the string trimmer, brushing, you name it he does it. You can help keep this guy keep doing the dirty work by donating to Teton freedom riders via old bills fun run before 5 PM this Friday.”

If you enjoyed riding Teton Pass this year, please take a moment to click the link in my bio and donate to the cause. @tetonfreedomriders is a non profit that has allowed us to maintain and grow the pass trail system into one of the best public trail networks in the country. We normally rely on funds raised through Pass Bash’s (free shuttle and demo days hosted by local shops) where people can pick up merch or make donations in person. Our other large fundraiser was the community bike swap hosted by @thehub_jh
Due to everything going on this year, these events weren’t able to happen.
We are relying heavily on donations this year, for our budget next year. All money donated before the 14th of September will be matched by Old Bills. We thank everyone for their support, allowing us to have such quality trails.

Pass Laps; Brought to You by Teton Freedom Riders
We get our hands dirty for you!
It's a lot of work maintaining Jackson Hole's trail system, and this summer has been no exception. We all need time outside to deal with today's world!
This summer has seen the highest user numbers ever on Teton Pass, and it's been hard on the trails. Brake bumps, holes in berms, and overall wear and tear mean we need your help now more than ever to preserve this precious community asset.
Follow the link in our bio to donate to Teton Freedom Riders today through Old Bill's Fun Run, and your dollars will go even further!

It has been the busiest summer ever on the Teton Pass trails, which is rad! The word is out that your local trails are world-class and keep getting better.
But how did those jumps get there? Who maintains and keeps improving them? Are trail fairies real?
The reality is that it takes a lot of work, both on the ground and behind the scenes, to make it happen. Since 2004 Teton Freedom Riders’ all-volunteer Board of Directors has been fundraising, advocating, and just plain working hard to make sure that Teton Pass keeps kicking ass!
We work hand in hand with local land managers, advocate for recreational access and fund a professional paid trail crew all summer long to buff berms, smooth the lips, fix brake bumps, improve drainage, build new features, etc.
We don’t mind the hard work, but we need your help to keep this unique community asset alive. A donation today through Old Bill’s Fun Run means a brighter future for mountain biking in Jackson Hole! 💯Percent of the money raised goes straight back to the dirt.

Teton FreeRiders

WHO WE ARE

Jackson Hole, Wyoming Trail Riders & Builders

Our Mission: To enrich the Teton experience through the creation and care of exceptional trails.

The United States Forest Service was given a grant (The Gas Grant) to be applied to the trail system in the Bridger-Teton National Forest. This opened the door to the first “user-specific” trail system in the country. There was enough money for everything but labor. The BTNF would only approve trails sponsored by a local business or organization, leading to the birth of The Teton FreeRiders.

Due to the increasing numbers of residents and tourists along with the rapidly growing popularity of trail-related activities issues arose exponentially.  User conflicts increased among mountain bikers, horseback riders, trail runners, hikers & dog walkers. Trail erosion and degradation occurred faster than it could be repaired and maintained.  These primary issues spurred a public outcry for a solution.

In October 2004, we became incorporated and began working in conjunction with the U.S. Forest Service. The Teton FreeRiders fill the labor void with thousands of hours of paid labor. The U.S.F.S. holds TFR responsible for trail design, signage, safety, and education.

Teton FreeRiders is a tax-exempt organization under the IRC 501(c)(3)
